Scalp pigmentation, also known as scalp micropigmentation (SMP), is a cosmetic procedure that involves tattooing the scalp to create the appearance of a closely shaved head or to camouflage areas of hair loss. It is primarily used as a solution for individuals with thinning hair, receding hairlines, bald patches, or complete hair loss.

During the SMP procedure, a specialized pigment is deposited into the upper layers of the scalp using small micro-needles. The pigment is matched to the client's natural hair color to create a realistic and seamless look. The process is usually performed in multiple sessions to gradually build up the desired density and shade.

The purpose of scalp pigmentation is to replicate the look of hair follicles or stubble, giving the illusion of a full head of hair or a well-groomed, buzz-cut style. By strategically placing tiny dots of pigment, the practitioner can create the appearance of a hairline, add density to thinning areas, or conceal scars and other imperfections on the scalp.
